Reporter

Responsibilities

Developing sources and breaking stories is what it’s all about, you MUST be able to demonstrate how you aggressively pursue relevant stories and develop exclusive content.  You must be great at incorporating digital/social media content with all your stories too.  The successful candidate must have strong LIVE reporting skills and the ability to communicate complex stories that our viewers can understand and use to better their lives!! You have to be a people person who can work in a TEAM environment!

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field with a minimum 3 years reporting experience in a commercial television news operation.  You must have a passion for storytelling and come to our editorial meetings with great story ideas!  You’ll need to exhibit strong on-air skills both in the field and in studio.  You must strive for excellence in everything and relentlessly pursue your stories with passion and determination.

Weekend Anchor/Weekday Reporter

FOX6 News is seeking a Weekend Anchor / Weekday Reporter to join our team!  The ideal candidate will take command on the desk and engage viewers with their smooth delivery and sparkling personality!  Anchoring is only one portion of the job.  Other days the responsibilities pivot to an enterprising journalist, sniffing out the biggest stories and beating the competition to breaking news.  In return, FOX provides a stellar benefits package including generous paid time off, 401k package and what our employees refer to as the best medical coverage.   

Responsibilities

You must be energetic and comfortable on the desk. You need to develop sources and have a passion for breaking news. You must be an engaging communicator who can connect with viewers! Great writing and storytelling skills along with the desire to be excellent in everything you do is a must!  You will collaborate with the Assignment Desk, Producers, Photojournalists and Editors to create compelling newscasts and unique reports.  Accuracy and urgency are a must. And social media skills are expected to attract, inform, and engage the community.    

Qualifications

Live reporting skills and a minimum of 5 years of news experience is required. College degree in Journalism or related field required. Being a team player who works well with photojournalists, editors, producers and managers is an absolute necessity. Multimedia Journalist

Responsibilities

As an MMJ, you will write, shoot, edit and present stories live for daily newscasts, station website and other social media platforms. You will develop sources in the community and contribute story ideas daily. You will use your creative storytelling techniques to engage viewers and break down information to be clear and concise to our audience. We are looking for that ‘people person’ who can work in our TEAM environment!

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field with a minimum 2 years on-air experience in a commercial television news operation. You must have non-linear editing experience, preferably Edius or Adobe Premiere. You must possess exceptional writing skills and work efficiently under tight deadlines. Producer

You must be able to produce fast-paced newscasts with urgency and accuracy.   • Must be physically able to lift, carry and handle 30 to 50 pounds of camera gear, and deal with the realities of a Wisconsin winter or summer.

Managing Editor

FOX6 is seeking a Managing Editor to lead and direct our news coverage. This is a fast-paced environment and we need a decisive individual who thrives in breaking news situations.  As part of our compensation package, we offer comprehensive medical plans, three weeks vacation, a generous 401k package and tuition reimbursement to mention a few.  

Responsibilities

Oversee the editorial aspects of news production for WITI’s broadcast television and digital platforms, including collaborating with the VP/News Director, Executive Producers, Anchors, Reporters, Editors and Photographers. The ideal candidate is a dynamic, team-oriented leader with strong editorial judgment and persuasive written and oral communication skills who will work closely with the News Director and Assistant News Director on the editorial direction of the newsroom. The Managing Editor: 

  • Starts each day with a vision for the day’s coverage, communicates that vision to everyone involved and sees through its execution
  • Runs editorial meetings to ensure FOX6’s coverage is comprehensive, proactive, thoughtful and serves viewers well
  • Sets high journalistic standards for the newsroom, maintains quality and works to ensure accuracy, fairness and diverse representation in all newscasts
  • Oversees reporter and anchor assignments and schedules
  • Works closely with all editorial teams to make sure newsroom is focused on digital goals
  • Plans and executes special coverage
  • Establishes and cultivates positive relationships with outside agencies.
  • Must be a strong communicator, detail-oriented and be able to meet deadlines within specific time constraints.
  • Other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate and necessary

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in Journalism or Communications preferred.  A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in local TV news is required for this job as well as at least 3 years of news management experience. Significant experience as a line producer, executive producer and/or on-air reporter are all a plus. Familiarity with BitCentral, iNews and Edius are a plus. Qualified candidates will have excellent communication skills, written and oral.

Executive assistant

WITI is looking for a dynamic professional to support the General Manager and station management team with the daily operation of a busy office and special projects.  You will be deeply involved in the day-to-day activities of the station while working closely with all departments, vendors, and the public.   

Responsibilities

The person in this position must demonstrate extreme discretion handling sensitive material while providing administrative support to the General Manager and station management.  The position is responsible for, but not limited to, maintaining station contracts, booking travel, creating and tracking purchase orders, coordinating station appearance requests, preparing mandatory FCC reports, licensing station footage, working closely with station vendors, assisting with expense reports, ordering supplies, and other duties as assigned.  The person is this role will coordinate employee, community and client events including catering and booking venues.     

Qualifications

Required skill set includes effective written/verbal communications, creative problem-solving and conflict management, and computer skills including Microsoft Office.  Must be able to multi-task with excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and strong organizational skills.  Candidate must possess superior judgment and be able to handle highly confidential information with discretion. 3-4 years for experience supporting high level executives preferred, but not required.  College degree preferred.

What you'll do

  • FOX6 has significant advertising opportunity on multiple platforms. It is the role of the Account Executive to listen, prepare, present and close business with a consultative approach.
  • Identify and present integrated marketing solutions to variety of local businesses in a variety of fields – retailers, healthcare, automotive, home improvement, financial, entertainment, legal and more.
  • Prospect for new accounts – make cold/warm calls to secure needs analysis meetings and peak businesses interest with all the exciting programs and products we have to offer
  • Research accounts and the marketplace on a consistent basis.
  • Work with variety of internal departments -- Creative Services on commercial production, Traffic department on advertising copy traffic, Finance department on invoicing, discrepancies, collection issues, and sales support personnel who will assist with the fulfillment of your TV and digital campaigns.

What you'll have

As a FOX6 Media Account Executive, you must be passionate about collaborating with local business owners. Being personable with excellent written and verbal communication skills is essential in your success.  You must be detail oriented and organized to stay on top of clients’ needs.  Being proficient with MS Office is necessary.  An understanding of core marketing principles is vital to provide targeted solutions to your clients.  You must have a strong desire to work in the field (not sitting in an office) to meet with clients, discover their needs and present a strong marketing plan that will help clients reach their goals.  A basic understanding of digital products – display, mobile, email, video, search, native, contesting and social is preferred, not necessary. A four-year college degree and prior sales experience is desired.
